Wizard's House

"Hey"

The Wizard greets the evil-allured knights the same way every night, with the same word, while casually sitting on the steps of the porch outside of her little home. The building looks handmade, like it was built by people who cared about the place they were going to live. Surrounding it on all sides are fields as far as the eye can see. Vegetables of all kinds, with fruit trees and bushes placed throughout the landscape. Closer to the home are bigger trees, willows and others, providing shade from the strange three suns above. Wherever this is, it isn't the world that the knights know.

Plunged into the ground a mere few feet away from the steps leading up to the home is a handwritten sign that states the following:
Knight Rules:
- Tell others if you want
- You can't reveal others
- The world ends this year

Matilda bends to pick up her forgotten pillow, then decides to just forgo standing as a whole, and kerplunks herself onto the floor of the porch. Your head is safe for now, Gyre.

"Yeah, I didn't know you guys talked." She sounds a little scandalized-- what did they talk about? Did they talk about her? Was her grandfatherly dog companion hanging out with the Wizard gossiping about her?

Gyre's eyes widen at that last bit and he lifts his chin slightly.

"We should bring everyone," he says matter-of-factly. He's utterly disinterested in keeping information from the rest of them at this point.

Haizea just stares at Fumicq silently after the Wizard tells her that they know. She liked Fumicq, but she didn't fully trust them. This was not an uncommon emotion for Haizea, there's lots of people in this world that she likes but doesn't trust.

Her brow furrows at the invitation. Who would she even bring? Or maybe...

"If we bring everyone, then the Protector will know too. I don't think he'll take kindly to knowin' there's four of us this year," she says with a frown. She's not opposed to letting the cat out of the bag in theory, but she gets the feeling that the Protector is the type to kill first, ask questions later.

Matilda sits upright a little taller at Gyre's suggestion- only for her lips to twist into a pout at Haizea's response. They're both right, of course. She's not too keen on the Protector knowing she's spent so much time with the Wizard.

"But if everyone else knows too... It would be better, right? If we all worked together, the Protector couldn't hurt us!" She doesn't sound very sure.

"No," he says automatically, frowning at her for even suggesting it. Don't break peoples' houses, Wizard?? He's not worth all that effort anyway.

"I can invite everyone. Then he won't learn anything new. He already knows I'm not on his side."

"Hmm," Haizea intones, considering Gyre's proposal. While she wouldn't have wanted to out herself like that, not yet at least, it is a bit handy having at least one of them be public knowledge.

"That might just work. But even if he don't find out who else is sharin' dreams with you, won't we still have to keep him busy while we meet, or else he'll crash the party?"

Matilda pouts, resting her elbows on her knees. "And... it seems wrong. To make you the only one they know about." She huffs. "And to use someone who's hurt as bait."

Once again, Gyre snaps awake the second he's in a bed. Even if it is tattered, it's nothing like the grass he's accustomed to. Instead of jumping up to his feet this time though, he freezes in place when he sees the state of the room. His skin prickles, and it takes several seconds before he feels comfortable enough to poke his head up and look around.

The place is a wreck. "What happened," he murmurs to himself, finally standing and moving out into the kitchen. Well, what's left of the kitchen anyway. He begins to look around, turning over debris as if he might find some evidence of her somewhere. He leans way out of each of the windows, taking stock of the strange, now familiar landscape.

He can't find the Wizard, and that feels bad. Is she dead? He cups his hands around his mouth as he leans out the final window, taking a deep breath and just shouting, "WIZARD!"

Garrot awakens in his room as well, easily sliding back into his casual frustration every other time he awoke here. And while he's been here before, the awareness of the free-flowing air through the room and across his partially unprotected body is enough to send him springing to his feet and right out into the room where they'd eaten breakfast only a few dream-nights ago. Gyre's shouting reminds him that he is not alone, he is never alone in this place, and he takes a moment to uh adjust the tattered garment a bit, for decency's sake. He does not want to expose Matilda Hamilton to something so suggestive or untoward!

But instead of shouting as he normally does, Garrot hustles over to some of the damaged decorations and picks up an entire wooden shelf. This is her weird dream world, so whatever did this wasn't her friend. If it's not friendly to her, it sure as shit isn't friendly to them.

"I'll check outside." It's not an offer, it's not even much of a warning, because he's going right out that door, and he's willing to club the first motherfucker he sees. Big maybe if that's the Wizard; it doesn't really count as him getting the kill if someone else did the work, right?
